MIC Introduction

The Multimedia and Information Centre (MIC) forms an important part of the Masaryk University Language Centre. It was established in 1996 with the aim of promoting independent learning in English. The Centre provided traditional and multimedia materials and programmes related toacademic and specific English to full-time, combined and doctoral students, as well as to teachers and University staff. Based on the students´ requests, the Centre extended its activities and materials to German, French, Spanish, Russian and Czech for Foreigners in 1997.

Today the MIC is a state of the art study centre thatoffers free language learning facilities and language support to all members ofthe University. It provides a wide variety of learning tools using both high and low technology, such as videoconferencing equipment, Internet, multimedia PCs,satellite TV, interactive video and audio materials, CD ROMs, as well as a range of didactic materials focused on CEFR defined language skills.

The Language Centre is situated on the first floor in the former Faculty of Medicine, Komenského náměstí 2. Walk pass through the main entrance to the yard. Enter the door on the left and walk up the stairs to the first floor.
